Numerous infos have surfaced regarding Samsung’s smartwatch, Galaxy Gear, giving us a pretty good idea of the hardware to be expected.
The screen will be 2.5 inch OLED with 320 x 320 pixel, supporting touch and swipe functions but comes without text input, which crossed out e-mail and text messaging function. The smartwatch is expected to run on a dual core 1.5GHz Exynos processor and and will pair with smartphones via Bluetooth 4.0 connection, leaving the NFC for contactless payment and content transfer when bumped against another NFC enabled device. Interestingly, the smartwatch would have an in-built accelerometer to allow for owners to switch the watch on when brought nearer their eyes.
Another report reveals that the Galaxy Gear will initially ship with four colors – white, orange, grey and black on September 23. A white and gold variant will ship one week later to be exclusive to certain regions / carriers. The Galaxy Gear is almost certain to be announced together with Galaxy Note 3 during Samsung’s Unpacked Event on September 4.
