Ubuntu 13.10 comes with a new keyboard applet that allows switching between keyboard layouts and it also make typing very easy. Although it is nice to have various keyboards and languages on your PC, many users might not even need it.

The new applet is enabled as a default feature but fortunately, you can even disable it and get rid of it from your panel following three steps.

  1. Click and open the System settings.
  2. Select “Region and Language”
  3. Choose to uncheck the “Show Current Input Source in Menu Bar”

 

It will be invisible and hidden after these steps. Please follow the above-mentioned steps, if you require it again. Additionally, check the option next to “Show Current Input Source in Menu Bar.”
