Sir Patrick Stewart decided it was his turn to take the ALS ice bucket challenge, but decided to do it completely different.

The actor begins his video in a hotel room with a cheque book placed in front of him. He writes out a cheque for an undisclosed sum of money, then pushes the cheque book to one side before drawing a silver ice bucket into view. He proceeds to select a few cubes of ice and place them into a glass before pouring himself a shot of whiskey, takes a big sip and smile. The 74-year-old actor doesn’t utter a single word throughout the video. Ice bucket challenge done.

The rules of the ALS ice bucket challenge is simple, donate money towards fighting ALS or dump a bucket of ice on your head. The challenge, praised as an effective fundraiser by some but dismissed as nothing but a wet t-shirt contest by others, does raise money and awareness for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
