It does sound like a high-tech option for most users, and in fact, it is an advanced feature that normal users would not have to tamper with. It is an extremely useful function which is not that hard to understand once you can grasp the basics. The function of this mode is to facilitate a connection between an Android device and a ┬ácomputer with Android SDK (software development kit). On the other hand, Android SDK is the software suite that’s designed to aid in the development of Android apps. 1. Android 2.0 to 2.3.x

  • Go to Settings
  • Select Applications
  • Select Development
  • Check the box USB Debugging

2. Android 3.0 to 4.1.x

  • Go to Settings
  • Select Developer Options
  • Check the box USB Debugging

3. Android 4.2.x and above

The Developer Options is hidden from Android 4.2.x and higher options. So first, you have to make the option visible.

  • To bring out Developer Options menu:
    1. Go to Settings
    2. Select About Phone
    3. Tap on Build Number 7 times to reveal the Developer Options menu

    1. Go to Settings again
    2. Select Developer Options
    3. Check the box USB Debugging
