MakerBot’s Thingiverse is a 3D design community for discovering, printing and sharing of 3D models. With more than 120,000 members as well as over 100,000 downloadable free 3D models, and more than 38 million file downloads, it is the world’s largest 3D printing community. MakerBot has released an iOS app to explore all the 3D printed items available in its website.

“Launching the MakerBot Thingiverse IOS app has been a goal of ours and we are pretty psyched to launch it today,” said CEO of MakerBot, Bre Pettis. “We encourage everyone to download the Thingiverse app and be a part of the Next Industrial Revolution that is being fueled by 3D printing.”

With the app, 3D printing fans can explore the vast resources of 3D printed creations from anywhere they happen to be. The Explore function allows you to check out noteworthy items uploaded to the site, featured items, popular items, made items, and have the ability to like and add items to your collections for closer inspection later. It also provides access to full screen slideshows of telephotos for each design.

From within the app, users are allowed to share their favorite designs with social networks or via e-mail to friends. Users can also take advantage of the apps ability to upload photos of their own 3D printing designs. The app required iOS 6 or later and is available now via iTunes.
